Whilst other companies stake their claim on the bindings market by offering rear entry solutions, splitboard options etc, NOW are radically different from the rest via their unique pivoting technology. Essentially, the designers wanted bindings to behave more like skateboard trucks, so using an internal kingpin the bindings allow more flex from heel to toe, loosening up the user’s ride.
Initially, they just had one model – the IPO – but nowadays they’ve expanded their range to cover pretty much every flex you could desire, as well as a couple of female-specific models and – new for 2016/17 – a Wildcats collab. No surprises there as company-founder JF Pelchat hung with the original crew back in the day!
It’s worth giving these a go before you throw down the cash as they’re not to everyone’s taste, but those you like them swear by them, including pretty much the whole of the YES Snowboards team.
