When you hit upon the right formula, why do anything more to it. Next winter Karakoram’s entire range will be variations on a single theme, namely different takes on their Prime bindings. Built primarily for splitboarding, these things will hold fast for normal resort or backcountry riding as well, and at a mere 595g per foot for the top-of-the-range Prime-X Carbon, the Washington-based company are claiming that they’re the “lightest bindings in the world.”
Not for nothing, the whole range also comes with a two-year warranty, as well as a guaranteed lifetime parts replacement service. Plus the stylings simply look sick af, especially the colour details on the women’s versions of each binding.
In short, if you’re after high-end, performance bindings for backcountry turns and splitboarding next winter, you won’t have to look much further than Karakoram for 2017/18.
