Dakine are still relative newbies when it comes to snowboard outerwear. This season, they’ve edged ever nearer to obtaining technical kit at a pretty reasonable price. Both the Helena jacket (left) and Ledge jacket (right) have two layers of fabric allowing decent breathability and waterproofing. The Helena looks almost like street wear when paired with these rad floral pants, but with enough warmth to keep the mountain chill out. The Ledge jacket is a similar spec, mid-range jacket combined with fluro yellow Terrain pants, both priced at a comfy £150 that won’t break the bank.

ABOUT DAKINE SNOWBOARDING
Dakine have a reputation as one of the best makers of backpacks, gloves and snowboard accessories in the business. Every winter their range takes small steps forward in terms of tech, but 2012-13 saw them make a giant leap, producing snowboard outerwear for the first time. This year, their second collection improves on that, but continues to offer technical features and fabrics at surprisingly reasonable price points. All the kit on this page is made of two layer fabrics, and features the kind of clever details that you’d expect from the company that invented the Torque snowboard multi-tool.
