Protest comes from the last country you’d ever expect to produce a thriving snowboard brand – Holland. Yep, that’s right, in 1993, a group of shred enthusiasts from the flattest nation on earth decided they wanted to start making their own kit. It’s an impressive testament to their dedication (and the quality of their clothes) that they’re still going strong today. Protest definitely has its own, recognisable style – all bold prints and lighter-weight fabrics, designed to suit the jib kids and park rats who hang out in Holland’s snow-domes. But I guess when you’re homeland doesn’t have a single mountain, there’s not much call for freeride kit is there?
