Volkl has been around for almost 90 years, back when the Snurfer wasn’t even a glint in Shermen Poppen’s eye. After establishing themselves in the ski industry, they successfully made the transition to sideways-standing, and their boards are held in high regard in Europe and beyond.
Their best-known model remains the high-end freestyle stick, the Squad Prime. Less hell-bent freestylers can go for the Squad Rocker, though, and there’s the Squad Jr. for younger riders.
Elsewhere there are a few specimens that immediately caught our eye – top of the list being the massive Pace. New for 2016/17 and available as a 157, 163 and a 169W, it’s a hard-carving bullet of a board that floats like crazy in the pow too.
They’ve got a substanital women’s range, and have applied their know-how to splitboarding and youth snowboards too – not to mention bindings. Check out what’s occurring in 2016/17:
