As well as a podium finish at Verbier Xtreme, UK freeride guru James Stentiford has recently aced his BASI level 3 coaching qualification and, along with fellow pros Jenny Jones and Laura Berry, has sat down to share his thoughts on the course.
As we gather from the chats, what they went through was anything but the über-anal ‘snowboarding-as-a-derivative-of-skiing’ approach that high-end coaching is often painted as. Instead, these three veterans were introduced to new techniques and skills that would come in handy all over the mountain, even in the park. As Stenti says, “If you think you know it all, you definitely don’t”.
