A solid-as-hell aluminium heelcup connects a baseplate and highback that are mostly nylon, with a bit of carbon and fibreglass thrown in for added response. So it’s largely tried-and-tested tech, albeit slightly souped up. The hexagonally-patterned straps are as minimalist as they come, and will hug any boot with ease.

Nitro does some seriously impressive binding tech – and while you won’t find some of it on the Talent for obvious reasons, the build is still more than capable of handling heavy use. EVA dampening is as proven as they come, the aluminium heelcup is as strong as an ox, and the straps are both light and comfy.

It facilitates your snowboard’s natural flex, while doing a bang-up job of cancelling out vibrations. Also, if eco-points are important to you, check out the straps and highbacks made from castor beans.

Most of the K2 Bond’s connection to your board is via a malleable material that’ll conform to the board as it bends, but targeted areas of ‘This Grips’ rubber compound keep it secure and improve response. The footbed is now twice as thick as it was last year, which is good news for your feet.
