It’s easy to neglect the importance of our feet and what they do for us. They keep us up all day and, even more importantly, it’s the part of our body that gets strapped into a snowboard – thus allowing us to ride in the first place. With that in mind, let’s look after our feet. Let’s make their comfort a priority.
“Choosing a pair of snowboard socks might not seem that big of a deal but trust us, it is”
Merino wool feels soft and nice against your skin. It’s also super lightweight, warm, and breathable. Most snowboard socks are made out of a mixture of different materials, but it might be worth spending a few extra quid on a pair of socks that include merino wool on their ingredients list.
Fit is another major factor when choosing the right snowboard socks as you want to avoid creating any uncomfortable pressure points within the boot. Make sure the socks won’t bunch up, and that you don’t constantly have to pull them up. Dedicated compression zones can stop this from happening. They can also enhance the blood flow to your feet and calves.

When hiding your feet within a pair of snowboard boots all day, they’re bound to start sweating. To avoid a sweaty feeling inside the boots and the unpleasant odour that comes with it, we’d encourage you to invest in a pair of socks with wicking abilities and odour resistant properties (shoutout for merino wool again).
You really don’t want your feet soaking in their own sweat throughout the whole day as this’ll be an uncomfortable experience. Nor do you want to have to wash your snowboard socks on daily basis (we all ride in the same socks on consecutive days, no point in trying to deny it).
Of course, snowboard boots aren’t exactly the softest footwear out there (although softer than ski boots we’d wager). This makes extra padding on your socks that much more important. Whether this padding is on the shins, the toes or the arch it all adds to the comfort of your ride. And this, in turn, makes it easier to stay up on the hill for longer.
As a wise man once said, “keep your feet happy and they’ll keep you happy.”
