Why We Chose The Rome Boneless
The East Coast hardcore at Rome know a thing or two about board design, so when they announced a brand new model we were naturally excited. The Boneless does not disappoint. It’s a fresh take on unisex versatility, blending playful twin geometry with serious all-terrain capability.
“With its mellow flex, the Boneless is perfect for creative-minded riders in the market for a quiver of one”
Who Is The Rome Boneless For?
As you’d expect from the all-mountain category, it’s for riders who refuse to be boxed into one riding style. Whether you’re perfecting your rail game, exploring some side hits, or just want a board that adapts to whatever’s in front of you, the Boneless delivers that rare combination of freestyle fun and carveability. With its mellow flex, it’s perfect for intermediate and/or creative-minded riders in the market for a quiver of one.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut
The Boneless’s versatile performance stems from some smart design choices. Its Fusion Camber profile combines rocker in the nose and tail with camber underfoot, delivering the best of both worlds – playful turn initiation and reliable edge grip when you need it. This hybrid approach also means you get plenty of spring-loaded pop, while the rockered sections help bail you out of sketchy landings and offer a little extra float in softer conditions.
Rome’s True Twin Tri-Radial sidecut is particularly clever, using a wider radius in the tip and tail zone with a tighter radius mid-board. This helps prevent hangups and over-turning while creating a more natural feeling in the turn. And of course, the true twin shape ensures identical performance in both directions, with perfectly symmetrical specs from end to end. Long story short, this board crushes the park and kills it on the home run (think Side Hits Euphoria).
On top of all this is the Twin Diamond 3D base contour. The gradual three-dimensional bevel in both nose and tail provides playful response and smooth turn-initiation without ever feeling unstable. It also reduces the chances of catching your edge, which is a useful confidence-boost for progressing riders.

Construction and Materials
The Boneless is stacked with exotic materials and technology. The star of the show is its Bamboo Omega HotRods – basically bamboo rods wrapped in carbon sleeves, and inserted at strategic points into the core. Rome calls this tech “the perfect blend of power and playfulness” and it’s hard to deny that this board feels lively and fun across the mountain.
Flax impact plates are strategically placed around the insert packs, sandwiched between the core and topsheet. These woven flax mats work overtime to absorb heavy landings and distribute vibrations from death cookies etc., – all while increasing the board’s overall lifespan. Better yet, the flax doesn’t dramatically change its flex pattern.
A SinterStrong base rounds out the package – Rome’s versatile, low-maintenance sintered option that offers a solid balance of speed and durability. While it requires regular waxing like any sintered base, it’s built to glide well over everything from icy morning groomers to spring slush.

Roundup
Rome’s gamble on a brand new model has paid off. The Boneless delivers exactly what its name promises – a skate-inspired freestyle deck focused squarely on fun. But it’s more versatile than you might expect from a twin – whether you’re lapping the park or diving into the sidecountry on pow days, this thing adapts without complaint.
The medium-soft flex keeps things playful throughout, while the 3D shaping and relaxed profile work together to make progression feel natural and confidence-inspiring. For riders seeking a legitimate one-board quiver that won’t force compromises, the Boneless is a strong contender.
Pros
- True freestyle versatility across all terrain types
- Twin Diamond 3D reduces edge catch
- Bamboo Omega HotRods deliver playful pop without the usual stiffness
Cons
- The graphic doesn’t feel as fresh as the board (although existing Rome fans will dig it)
- Aggressive riders might find the flex too soft
