The obvious answer would be the longer-in-the-tooth rider who reminisces fondly about the times when all jackets looked like this – but with those specs and a nice baggy fit from top to toe, this outfit is a true cross-generational crowd-pleaser.
Sometimes brands skimp on breathability in favour of a blockbuster waterproofing rating, but with the Beyond Medals Nostalgia jacket & pants you get both in spades, as well as fully-taped seams – so from early-season cold snaps to park laps under the spring sun, you’ll be staying dry and comfortable.
The water-repellant finish is free of nasty fluorocarbons, and is made entirely from recycled polyester – so this definitely boasts more eco-points than your average jacket from way back when. This hasn’t compromised on performance, though – and while the two-way stretch of the outer shell is far from an industry leader these days, given the fit (more on which later) it’s more than sufficient for unrestricted mobility.
There’s a little bit of insulation in the jacket’s body, and a thinner version in the arms, hood and pants, so they won’t cook you in the warmer months but will come in handy when the mercury drops. Should things get too toasty, you can always unzip the meshed inside leg and armpit vents.

We’ll start with the fit, as we expect that to be quite a draw when it comes to the Beyond Medals Nostalgia outfit. The baggy look has very much been embraced, but Beyond Medals hasn’t gone overboard with it. The cinch system at the bottom of the jacket is a breeze to use, and the modern big-print logo on the hood will reassure everyone that you’ve not just been rifling through your mum’s attic.
Features-wise, both the jacket and pants have opted for tried-and-tested flourishes that help to enhance your day on the hill. The powder skirt and stretch cuffs on the jacket combine with the pants’ boot gaiters and built-in belt to keep the snow at bay. Then there’s the pockets: the jacket boasts an internal media pocket, sleeve pocket, and two zipper hand pockets, so there’s no danger of losing your lift pass, Walkman or Tamagotchi on the hill. Meanwhile the pants have two simple zipped hand pockets, which is more than enough for most riders.

Hats off to Beyond Medals for honouring the good ol’ days with the most 90s colour palette imaginable – especially the green and red hues, which were seemingly everywhere back then! – while still putting performance first. Once you discount the aesthetics – and remove the rose-tinted goggle lens – it’s clear that these tick all the right boxes. Sure, you can find techier outerwear out there, with stretchier fabric, an abundance of pockets and bomb-proof ratings, but for the price the Beyond Medals Nostalgia packs a punch.

It cinches perfectly for the modern boxy look. I also got the most compliments on my fit while wearing the full Nostalgia kit – so you know, ‘look good, feel good, ride good’ etc. Plenty of pockets in places where they’re not in painful landing zones when you fall. I tested this across various temps and snow conditions and was comfortable throughout. It’s very lightly lined, but effectively can be worn like a shell. I’ll be ripping this one for as long as I can!”
