The strapline in the Salomon catalogue for this binding is “tweakers allowed”, which should tell you everything you need to know about who this is designed for. Well, that and the fact that Quebecois rail-slayer Louif Paradis rides these. It’s basically a high-performing freestyle binding. It features Salomon’s ‘Shadowfit’ technology, which marries a lightweight base plate with a relatively soft-flexing heelcup which is reinforced by something they call a ‘quickwire’ made of Kevlar. This means the binding can flex to fit your boots and offer the response you need for bigger kickers and rails. The District isn’t just about freestyle though. Whitelines’ deputy editor Tristan rode these with the Salomon Villain board and was impressed by how solid they felt when bombing it through choppy snow. So all-in-all, they’re a comfortable all-round option.
