Born from two Northwave/Drake employees and distributed through the same C3 Worldwide foundation as Capita and Coal headwear – Union’s emergence in 2005 marked a new era for the design, development and detail going into the modern day binding. With their focus going solely into bindings, they strive to make unbreakable products with the most responsive feel – a difficult balance to strike.
But, with a rider list of the world’s heavyweight snowboarders, they must be doing something right. The bindings come with a lifetime warranty on all baseplates and heelcups, and the company believe that by milling the bindings in one piece, the materials maintain their structure and strength.
Nowadays, they continue to push their limits with materials and tech: in their Contact Pro, you’ll find a minidisc setup with just 5% board to binding contact (metal to board, not including the foam bushings) for enhanced feel. Forged Carbon is pushing boundaries in terms of strength and weight, and increasingly tool-free setups help you to adjust on the fly. Stronger tech backed by a great reputation – you’ll see them under the feet of Gigi Ruf, Travis Rice, Scott Stevens, Torstein Horgmo and many, many more.
