adidas Slopetrotter 2017-2018 Snowboard Pants Review

As a globe-straddling multi-sport behemoth, adidas have their fingers in many different pies. However, for some of us at least, as soon as we see those three stripes it’s not tennis, golf and athletics that comes to mind, but Run DMC. With the adidas Slopetrotter snowboard pant, that timeless style has been updated for today’s fashion-conscious rider.

“What they are designed for is warm spring sessions when you want to lap a slushy park without feeling like a polar explorer awaiting a crucial weather window”

The adidas Slopetrotter pants are as far from a technical backcountry option as it’s possible to get, so if you’re looking for something that can withstand long days out of bounds then you’re in the wrong place. What they are designed for is warm spring sessions when you want to lap a slushy park without feeling like a polar explorer awaiting a crucial weather window.

From a distance these look like regular pants, but they’ve been given a few touches that set them apart from the racks of your local Sports Direct. Ratings of 5,000mm for waterproofing and 5,000g for breathability mean that they don’t immediately soak up the slush, and there’s a little extra resilience in the fabric at the seat area.

The pant cuffs are similarly sturdy, and zips on the pockets allow you to carry your essentials safely. The waistband is stretchy, obviously, but you can fine-tune the adjustment to make sure you stay decent even after the heaviest of landings.

Naturally, the price is right for these – and because they’re so light, you can even pack them away into their own back pocket. You wouldn’t choose the adidas Slopetropper as your only pair of pants for the season, but if you’re a lover of late-season slush-bashing (and aren’t we all) then these are a great, affordable and stylish option that’s worth chucking into any board bag.
