Adidas delve into the life and times of Jed Anderson
Earlier this year we were blessed with The Return of The King – Jed Anderson rose from the murky depths and drop kicked his way back into the upper echelons of street riding with Buzzcut. Children wept, men collapsed and women screamed, the message was simple and effective – Jed ain’t dead folks.
“The message was simple and effective – Jed ain’t dead folks”
Jed’s back again and this time Adidas Snowboarding are delving into his life, from his days as a little comp ripper in Calgary to filming his first video parts with Transworld, it documents his journey to becoming one of the most influential street riders ever. Jed is your favourite snowboarders favourite snowboarder and that’s just the cold hard truth.
Jed first strapped on a board when he was just a lil nipper, and at the time he was the only kid on the hill who was snowboarding. Despite this it soon became clear that he had a deep pool of natural talent and a certain fearlessness that would enable him to pull off manoeuvres that even the adults would struggle with. He worked his way up through the comp circuit, picking up a bunch of sponsors along the way (including Forum) and then eventually got baptised into the world of street riding when he first filmed for Transworld.
Jed’s X Games Real Snow part in 2012 was a stand out in what was arguably one of the most stacked rosters ever- Halldor, Scott Stevens and Dan Brisse are just a couple of the guys who competed that year. That insane level of riding is what people have come to expect of Jed, and somehow he always delivers the same calibre of brain boggling parts. If for some reason you haven’t clapped your eyes on Crazy Loco already, do it now, and you’ll see what we’re talking about.
From a young unknown to the iconic figure he’s become, Jed has managed to keep his interests outside of snowboarding going. His snowboarding style draws influence from skating, and yep you guessed it – he’s also a beast on a skateboard. After Nike pulled out of snowboarding and he parted ways with Salomon Jed was left without any major sponsors and after taking some time off of snowboarding to pursue his other interests he exploded back onto the scene in February after a hush hush deal and video project with Adidas.
We’re stoked to see what Jed comes out with next – his endless creativity, unrivalled eye for a spot and gut busting attitude are the ingredients in the recipe for a long and successful career of blowing our minds. All Hail The Jed.
