At first glance this looks a lot like the Nidecker Concept, and it’s definitely a close relative. If the Concept is a boss-level carver, the Nidecker Area snowboard is more of a gateway deck.
Despite the slightly softer flex and a simpler build, it would still suit someone who likes to charge. The sintered base, while not as quick as that of its carbon-enhanced brother, is still pretty rapid, and the camber profile has the same long contact points for smooth, predictable edge changes.
“Plenty of carving performance in a more user-friendly package”

The sidecut radius is a bit less tight, making the Nidecker Area easier to tame, and the fibreglass is a more malleable too. Essentially you get plenty of carving performance in a more user-friendly package. The aesthetics fit this direction down to the ground, too, thanks to a collaboration with Swiss photographer David Carlier.
When you do want to step things up and push the limits of the Area, it won’t crap out on you. The shock-absorbing topsheet helps you stay in control even when you’re blasting, and the four-wood core is solid and lightweight.
Naturally all those tech changes have brought the price down significantly, making the Nidecker Area a very attractive proposition for anyone looking to get more into carving. Unlike the Concept, there’s also a 148 version for smaller riders.
