Top 5: Full parts of 2012

Besides stuffing our faces with turkey, getting ‘festively merry’ and frantically running around packed out shopping centres on the verge of a tinsel-induced panic attack, this time of year is also a time for reflection. A time to longingly gaze back at the twelve months that have swiftly passed us by and to remember all of the radness that hath passed before our very eyes. We’re going to be compiling a list of top 5’s leading up to the new year, with the top five full parts of 2012 (today’s topic of choice), the top five full movies, the top five news stories of the year and so on…

Each list has been complied with stats from Google Analytics and are ranked in order from least to most number of visits by you lot over the course of the year. We’ll be adding an ‘editors choice’ as well – an item that we reckon you might have missed but is well worth a gander.

So kicking off with the top five full parts of 2012 (and there were a LOT of them), in fifth place:

5. Jed Anderson – In Full:

In what was surely one of the most anticipated urban parts of the year, Jed Anderson‘s full part had us re-playing and rewinding over and over again. With his trend-defining skinny pants/skinny stance style and incredibly technical tricks, is this one of the best urban parts ever? With so much hype around the prodigal Canuck, we caught up with the man himself in issue 104.

4. Sebastien Toutant – Huge Full Part:

Seb Toots had another stormer of a year in 2012, winning the Burton US Open slopestyle, dialling in his triple cork and being an all-round kicker slaying machine. In between all of the contests he also found time to film a full part and it can be neatly and succinctly summarised in one word: massive. Worth watching for the backcountry backside 1080 double cork ender alone.

3. Eric Jackson – Full Part Re-Edited:

This one really took us by surprise. I mean, we all know how talented Eric’s big bro John is, and we had a pretty good idea that Eric wasn’t too shabby in the backcountry either, but honestly, we had no idea just how much E-Jack had to offer – besides that first-class man-fuzz of his of course. There’s a reason why the original version of this part won Transworld’s coveted Video Part of the Year…

2. Nicolas Müller – Resonance Full Part:

It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that a Nicolas Müller part would stand a pretty good chance of making it into our top 5. Nico’s full part (well, one half of his two-song part actually) from Absinthe’s Resonance is an absolute joy to watch. With his timeless style, unconventional approach to tricks and an ability to paint the mountain like no other, Nicolas Müller and his full part just missed out on the top spot by less than a hundred hits. Which brings us to our somewhat surprising most viewed full part of 2012…

1. Scotty Vine – Mad One Foot Skills:

Scotty Vine spins, flips and slides into our full part top spot with a mind blowing full part that featured some of the gnarliest one-foot tricks we’ve ever seen. C’mon, how often do you see one-footed 540’s, let alone ones over the biggest kickers in the park? This particular style of riding may not appeal to everyone’s tastes but it sure as hell is impressive, and worthy of a watch – as the stats clearly show here.

Editors choice – Jamie Nicholls Full Part:

Ok ok, so we’re definitely a little biased here but Jamie Nicholls’ recent full part is something to behold. Steezy rail hits, jumps over chaorlifts and one of the biggest, cleanest cab 10’s we’ve seen all year: this part is a proper showcase of just how talented our Jamie is. He’s going big places people and if his start to the season is anything to go by (third at the Pleasure Jam, second at the Burton Rail Days and second at the Dew Tour rail comp), 2013 could shape up to be even more succesful.
