Using an efficient system to pack your snowboard bag will help you avoid excess baggage charges and, if used regularly, will mean you’re less likely to forget key items.
Start by putting your board in. It’s best to take the bindings off first since this is a more compact use of space.
Next place the bindings in together. Open the highbacks and stuff a few small, soft items inside – such as gloves, snowboard socks or beanies.
Fold the highbacks back down and tighten the straps over the top to keep everything firmly in place.
Putting your goggles inside your helmet is another great space saver that doubles as extra protection.
Fold your bulky outerwear, like jackets and pants, and put them at one end of your boardbag.
Regular clothes should be folded neatly and stacked at the other end. Designating separate areas like this makes it easier to live out of your bag.
Try to keep your casual clothing down to the bare minimum – you’d be surprised how little you need for a week when most of your day is spent in snowboard kit.
Now stuff any specialized midlayers in with the rest of your mountain wear.
Your snowboard boots can be filled with more small items, such as socks, an avalanche transceiver or even those essential English teabags!
Now close up the bag. If space is tight, opening the outer pockets first can release tension in the main zip.
Place one boot in each outer pocket. If your board bag comes with a separate inner boot bag, it’s usually easiest to place this under your outerwear.
