UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Vimana Continental Twin here

Thanks to the guys at Vimana, no longer must ‘continental’ be associated with the most disappointing of hotel breakfasts. The Vimana Continental Twin is one of two versions of the brand’s flagship stick; for this one, the more into park riding you are, the better, but all-rounders may find the Continental Directional to be more their speed.

“With its medium flex, the Vimana Continental Twin is just the ticket for all-round freestyle”

The Vimana Continental Twin is available both in a camber version and a rocker, and it was the latter which we tested. Both are (unsurprisingly) true twin in shape, and they also share the same monochrome graphics, of which we’re big fans.

Which to choose will depend a lot on what kind of rider you are – those looking for a bit more edge bite, whether it’s setting up for take-off on the kickers or carving the groomers between park sessions, the camber one is for you. If your focus is more on rails, boxes and general jibbing, you’ll probably get on better with the rocker.

Both can do either, though; Vimana’s take on it is pretty subtle, so is more about giving your preferred riding style an edge, rather than concentrating solely on one aspect of snowboarding. If you’re still having a hard time deciding, watch our guide to Choosing between Camber and Rocker.

“Gimmicks are thin on the ground here, so you get a predictable, reliable ride right from the off”

Both versions of the Vimana Continental Twin have the same construction; you get the advantages of a simple poplar core sitting atop a high-quality sintered base. Gimmicks are thin on the ground here, so you get a predictable, reliable ride right from the off – and one that’ll go like the clappers if you’ve stayed on top of your wax game.

With its medium flex, the Vimana Continental Twin is just the ticket for all-round freestyle. Whether it’s jumps, jibs or just the occasional slushy side hit, this will see you through.

Tester’s Verdict

Tom Copseyonboardmag.com

“If you’re after one board to do it all, regardless of how on how you’re feeling, the Continental Twin would be an excellent choice. Though it’s a true twin it was nothing short of great going forwards (let’s be honest; my direction of choice these days) and, naturally, switch felt just as on point.

“For doing a bit of everything and making sure you always have a big ol’ grin on your chops, the Continental Twin is hard to beat”

I was on the rocker version, which Vimana call ‘True Rocker’ with a subtle 2mm lift at each end making it feel basically like catch-free camber. It was super lively with lots of pop and even a King Cobra would be jealous of how quickly it can sweep from side to side.

When cruising and buttering around it felt super fun and mellow with no twitchiness, but surprisingly when throttled up it carved like a knife and was exceptionally stable. There are certainly boards out there that offer more of a challenge and also boards that would be a better choice if gunning powder faces, or sticking to the jibs, or sending the pro line is your sole concern.

But for doing a bit of everything and making sure you always have a big ol’ grin on your chops, the Continental Twin is hard to beat.”

Trade Secrets

Fredrik Austbo – Team Rider, Vimana

The Continental was the first board I ever rode for Vimana, and it didn’t take long before I found out that this is a solid all-round board.

I took it to the pipe the first day and the edge control on the board didn’t disappoint. It’s one of the most fun boards I have ever ridden, and it works on all terrain with confidence.
