UPDATE: Check out our review of the Best 2018/2019 Entry Level Snowboards here
Looking for a sure-fire way to put a beginner snowboarder off for life? Easy – just give them a wildly inappropriate board that leaves them pained, frustrated, reeling from multiple edge-catches, and 100% over it.
“A decent entry-level board might last you years – so it’s something worth putting a lot of thought into”
Fortunately there’s no shortage of appropriate snowboards that are designed to make the first tentative steps into snowboarding as enjoyable as possible. They’re all relatively soft, so that it’ll be you showing it who’s boss – rather than the other way round.
That’s not to say that all of them are ‘beginner’ snowboards per se – our experienced Test Team certainly enjoyed riding some of these at full pelt, making them a great choice for the rider looking for a fun, flexy stick to pack alongside their powder gun.
Therefore while these are great for those first linked turns, you won’t have to upgrade to something ‘better’ as soon as you’re getting the hang of things. A decent entry-level board might last you years – so it’s something worth putting a lot of thought into.
Here’s what we recommend for 2017/18.
