This trooper is only about to enter its fourth year on the market and has already managed to create quite the fanbase for itself. Slowly, it has infiltrated the snowboard scene and Salomon’s success story as a snowboard brand continues. Safe to say, this knife is here to stay.

The Salomon Huck Knife is a park board through and through. It’s got more pop than the Spice Girls, while the rocker profile at tip and tail ensures you can easily press those rails. What’s new for this season is the profile of the board. It’s still a camrock, but the camber between the feet has been switched for a flat profile so hitting rails will feel more stable.. The wide camber underneath the feet has been cut a bit shorter, which allows a longer rocker section at both ends, and thus makes it even easier to press on stuff.

“It’s got more pop than the Spice Girls and the rocker profile at tip and tail makes sure you can easily press those rails.”

Despite the changes to its profile, the Huck Knife’s core and the other tech remains the same. The Aspen makes for a quality lightweight core, while the popster maximises the snap and pop of the board. With the slingshot sidewalls and carbon inlays, you can be sure to have a more reactive ride.

The Salomon Huck Knife continues to provide its riders with the exact amount of precision, response and forgiveness you will need for a good ride. There’s a reason you can spot this thing everywhere you go – it’s one hell of a board (simple as).

If you reckon you won’t like the changes done to the 2019/2020 Huck Knife, you should give the new Salomon Huck Knife Pro a try – it’s got the same camrock profile the Huck Knife had before.

Tester’s Verdict

Mike BrindleyWhitelines

“I f*cking loved the Huck Knife in previous years, so was stoked to try it again to see how the new profile changed the ride. I have to say I couldn’t really feel that much of a difference, but it had been a year between the two tests. Regardless, I still loved it. This is really a board that can do it all.

“It felt rock solid when pressing and really stable for landings”

It’s such a fun, playful board and it just wants to pop around all the time. It’s so good for sidehits and boosting off of natural features. I had a quick park lap and it felt rock solid when pressing and really stable for landings. On piste this thing rips! It’s such a bullet train, it’s very dynamic. I love this board, and would implore anyone who wants a firecracker of a board to give it a go.”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

Chris Sturgesssnowfit.co.uk

“On our shop test trip this board was in such high demand that we had to ration it out – a real favourite. While I do not think it is possible to make a board that truly excels at everything, the Huck Knife is bloody close to pulling it off.

For most riders who get just one or two weeks’ riding in a year and don’t know what the snow will be like, the Huck Knife is the best board to have in your locker. Loaded with Salomons top tech, it’s light, stable, springy and all the other things you would expect from a great snowboard. I found the base to be particularly quick and durable, and I even used it for a few sessions on my local dry slope with no ill effect.

“For most riders who get just one or two weeks’ riding in a year, the Huck Knife is the best board to have in your locker”

So if want an all-mountain freestyle board that will do the job no matter if you are charging, jumping, pressing or floating through powder, this is the one!”
