The third addition to Nidecker’s Classic Series, the Babs. Together with the Nidecker Liberty and Pro Pipe, the Nidecker Babs has been reintroduced to the market as a celebration of Nidecker’s 35th anniversary as a snowboard manufacturer. Just like with the two other boards, the Babs has also been brought back with its iconic old school graphics.

This board is named after the iconic French snowboarder Jean Baptiste Charlet (aka Babs) – a real legend of his time, a guy who participated in the first snowboard pipe contest at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. The board itself might have been embellished with the original graphics, but the tech has been upgraded to match the needs of the modern day shredder.

“The camber profile provides pop, excellent edge-hold and response, making it ideal for laying down those clean carves. ”

Keeping it traditional, the Babs takes on the classic camber profile that was, and still is, the bedrock for performance snowboards, especially those that excel in the pipe. The camber profile provides pop, excellent edge-hold, and response – making it ideal for laying down those clean carves. If you’re looking for a performance board with precision, this comeback kid is more than ideal.

With a light yet strong core, carbon and Kevlar for added strength and dampening, and Nidecker’s lightning fast base, you can be sure this board won’t let you be the last one down. The Babs is a light creation, and thanks to the tech guys over at Nidecker – it’s also a very sturdy one. This board will allow you to charge down the mountain faster than the speed of light.

We’re stoked that the Nidecker Babs snowboard has made a return to the market. If you’re looking for an old school design wrapped around a technically advanced all-rounder, you’ll definitely have a blast ripping through the mountain on this one.

Tester’s Verdict

Rhys JonesTDC Snowboarding

“Babs Charlet is a true OG legend and this board rips. The graphics are epic with the classic Chamois from back in the day. I really liked the boards shape, camber between the bindings and rocker through the nose and tail which made it good for riding all conditions.

“The Babs held a solid edge on groomers and carved really well”

The Babs held a solid edge on groomers and carved really well. In the park it was great off jumps as it has plenty of pop and life in it. Riding switch was sweet.

The Babs is full of Nidecker-type tech features. Take the premium wood sandwich construction which combines with the tough as hell N9000 sintered base, something that contains carbon nanoparticles to provide exceptional glide. It all adds up to make a board that feels fast.

This board would suit the intermediate/advanced rider who likes to charge around the whole mountain jumping off stuff, laying over euro carves and taking laps through the park. Rad board!”
