Turning up on a powder day with the Lone Wolf isn’t bringing a gun to a knife fight, it’s like bringing an AK-47 to a game of tiddlywinks- there’s only one outcome and it’s going to be you on top. Designed in partnership with legendary surfboard shaper Chris Christenson, this is your VIP ticket to getting barrelled at altitude.

This tall drink of water tops out at a whopping 174cm, harking back to days gone by where behemoths ruled the roost in snowboarding. Everything about the Lone Wolf screams ‘FLOAT’. From the huge rockered nose to the deep swallowtail, every inch of this snowboard is engineered to keep you surfing the white wave with ease.

“Everything about the Lone Wolf screams ‘FLOAT’”

Jones have kitted out the Lone Wolf with 7mm of their spoon-like bevel in the nose, a tapered directional shape and have setback the inserts to shift your weight towards the tail. You might not want to be landing switch in powder (or ever for that matter) but for point and shoot missions and surfing open bowls, it’s practically unsinkable.

Despite its proclivity for powder, the Lone Wolf boasts a surprising amount of prowess on the hardpack. When the tide’s low, you’ll be cutting a mean figure on the corduroy, with the tight sidecut, narrow waist and powerful camber underfoot turning this powderhound into a veritable tipping and gripping machine.

The classic chip fork design isn’t the most versatile, but that’s kind of the whole point. However, you can rest assured that days spent on the Lone Wolf will be some of the most memorable. Spend your nights howling at the moon and your days whooping and hollering as you throw up rooster tails and slashes galore.

Tester’s Verdict 2019/20

“Awesome board!  The Lone Wolf is a big mountain Rhino Chaser and really came into its own at higher speeds.  It charged on the piste groomers and would no doubt be in its element on a big open steep powder face.

The shape of the Lone Wolf is like a surfy needle.  Long sidecut so it rides like a Super G race board on the piste and with the Jones 3D contour base that helps it to float in the POW.  Really fast and stable.

What I really liked about this board is that it didn’t feel crazy stiff under my feet, it was still fun on side hits and powder next to the piste.  Great fun for big long powder slashes.

Graphics are pretty standard for a Jones board but still looks good. I would recommend this board for somebody with smaller feet than my size 10s as the board’s width is a bit on the narrow side. This wouldn’t be my go-to everyday board for a resort but If you want a big long charging weapon to add to your quiver for the big powder days then this is the one.”
