Hardshell snowboard pants aren’t exactly your dictionary definition of comfort. However, by adding a full layer of Merino wool on the inside, Ortovox has managed to a problem with their 3L Guardian Shell Pants.
When hiking off the beaten path, you never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at you next. This is why durable outerwear is crucial. You want to make sure your pants keep the elements out, which is why Ortovox has used a membrane called Toray Dermizax. Its waterproofing rates at 20K, so you’ll be safe from wet snow on the outside. The very good 20K breathability, meanwhile, ensures you’ll stay sweat-free on the inside too.
“Made for both men and women, the pants possess the same tech and features regardless of the model”
For ultimate durability, Cordura has been added to the fabric. Cordura is known for its toughness and durability, so you won’t need to worry about the pants ripping even when they’re rubbing against sharp edges.
The Ortovox 3L Guardian Shell Pants come with two raised thigh pockets, and two hip pockets, for stashing your bits and bobs.
The loose fit also allows for a wider range of movement, something you’ll appreciate when hiking up. It also means that you’ll be able to add an extra layer underneath if you’re afraid things might get too cold for you.
Made for both men and women, the pants possess the same tech and features regardless of the model. The only thing that sets the two apart is the weight, with the women’s pants coming at 638G and men’s at 676G (weight difference comes as a result of the different amount of fabric used for each model).
