Defenders of Awesome, Capita’s answer to the question ‘what exactly is an excellent all-mountain board?’. This board has been around for quite a while now, and during these years it’s managed to build quite the fan base for itself. DOA is an all-rounder that pleases many and, what’s more, you seldom find a board that is praised so much by so many different types of riders. Whether it’s park or piste that pleases you, this board does both – and does it well.

Despite its camrock profile, this beast is mainly camber orientated. You’ll get plenty of pop and stability with this stick, and with a short flat part just outside the bindings you’ll get even more stability whether you’re riding piste or rails. The short rocker section at both tip and tails adds forgiveness to the ride and jibbing around the slopes becomes a considerable option too.

“With a higher density for durability you’ll feel like you’ve just entered a scene from Fast & Furious”

This boss of a board is as tough as a bulletproof vest. Literally. The sidewalls of the DOA are made out of Kevlar, which is the same material used for bulletproof vests. Using a Kevlar S wrap, the sidewalls are wrapped from the top of the sidewall to the underside of the core with a lightweight and durable technology. Safe to say, you can charge through anything without having to fear that the board could be about to take a fatal hit.

Not like you’d be lacking any speed with this turbo turner, but to make this vessel sail even faster – Capita’s added their new Quantum Drive base to it. With a higher density for durability, you’ll feel like you’ve just entered a scene from Fast & Furious. Not only is this new base faster, it also absorbs more wax, so you can spend less time standing in front of the waxing table and more time on the slopes.

Cruise or charge – Capita’s bestselling beast is down for anything. This stick is a confidence booster, ready to give you the ride of your life. If you’re looking for a board that can not only do it all, but do it well, Capita’s DOA is definitely worthy of consideration.

Tester’s Verdict

Rob McCreathWhitelines

“I took a look through the Capita catalogue to see what was new to write about and I swear to god this is what I found under the description for the DOA: “By utilizing the teachings of The Being of Light, combined with the Power of the Mind Development Pyramid, we can learn to manipulate unlimited energy, unlock human potential, and let light stream forth into the minds of men.”

What a monumental crock of shite. Here’s some blind analysis for you instead:

I’m a long way off awesome, but I quite happily defended it for about three seasons before passing the torch. Testing out this year’s DOA made me question why I ever stopped owning one in the first place. Like being reunited with an old friend, it felt like nothing had changed.

“The shape, profile, and flex always make the DOA such a solid all-rounder. Also, there’s just something about that Flat Kick in the nose and tail that really works for me.”

That’s a great thing, too. The shape, profile, and flex always make the DOA such a solid all-rounder. Also, there’s just something about that Flat Kick in the nose and tail that really works for me. Capita put a lot of refinement into getting the blend zones dialled into each of their decks. The DOA feels so solid on every turn initiation, especially if you’re on the set-up turn for a jump or making a last-minute adjustment for a rail. No twitchiness or surprise hookups just a really solid line.

In terms of its performance on the rest of the mountain, you can’t really go too wrong wherever you send it. The camber is a little on the mellow side, so it’s not super aggressive for railing the carves, but the carbon additives down each side of the board give it some zing.

You’d be hard-pressed (it’s actually incredibly easy to press) to find a better tool for the job in the park or if you take a freestyle approach to riding the whole mountain. Other than the upgraded Super DOA, of course.”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

Sam McMahonwhitelines.com

“Many all-mountain boards do exactly what it says on the tin, but it’s rare to find one that brings the same level of hype and joy to every area on the hill. For my money, there are two that excel as one-board quivers: the Ride Helix and this, the CAPiTA DOA.

So as you’d expect, this year it rode much like the last few years because why would you change a winning formula? The only thing different this time around is the graphic, with a slightly less gratuitously tits ‘n’ ass feel for 2019.

“It’s fun and easy to chuck around, but point it at something more serious like a park jump or rock drop and you’ve still got something confident under your feet”

The camber between the feet blends seamlessly into the early-rise rockered nose and tail, giving enough control when on edge but heaps of forgiveness if you sketch out a landing.
It’s fun and easy to chuck around, butter and bounce off side hits, but point it at something more serious like a park jump or rock drop and you’ve still got something confident under your feet.

For someone looking for a board to do it all for a season, there are still very few contenders out there that can compete on the DOA’s level.”
