Shape, Profile and Sidecut

As with most freestyle-focussed decks, the Burton Talent Scout is built around a true twin outline. The ideal shape for full creative freedom in the park, twin shapes are super balanced in the air, and give the perfect platform for switch takeoffs and landings. Burton blunt the nose and tail to reduce swing weight and lower the inertia, giving you even more control both in the air and on the ground.

Full camber isn’t as popular as it once was, but it remains the ultimate profile for aggressive riders- it’s dynamic, lively and gives bags of natural pop. While it may be a little more ‘hooky’ than a rocker, there’s no denying that it’s way more stable at speed.

Construction and Materials

Burton doesn’t hold back with the build of the Talent Scout, packing it full of their top-shelf tech and clever construction theory. From the bottom up, the Talent Scout is designed for proper park destruction, the high-end sintered base lets you go full hog on the in-run, if anything you’ll be forced to scrub speed. Responsive triax fibreglass sandwiches a lightweight core to deliver rapid response and Burton uses their Dualzone™ EGD tech to power up the edges between the feet.

Pro Tip is Burton’s way of further reducing swing weight, they mill the thickness of the board in the tip and tail to allow you to garner more control and allow for easier spinning. As with all Burton snowboards, you’ll find the Channel system to mount your bindings, this reduces interference between the binding and board and allows it to have a more natural flex pattern.

“Definitely not for newer riders, but if you’re looking to up your game in the park and beyond then it’s one for your list”

Roundup

All in all, you’ll find a super responsive and playful board in the Burton Talent Scout. Definitely not for newer riders, but if you’re looking to up your game in the park and beyond then it’s one for your list.

Pros:

  • Super poppy
  • Not just a park board, you’ll reap the benefits all over the mountain

Cons:

  • A bit too aggressive for novices

Tester’s Verdict

Joy Dutch – Wordsmith, Whitelines

“Always one of my favourite women’s boards, the Burton Talent Scout is great for blasting through the park. For me, I find it a little too stiff for real flatland jibby riding, but for kickers, sidehits and messing around it’s really lively. I wouldn’t recommend for a beginner but if you’re looking to up your game in the park and charge around on piste then it’s a winner in my book. I know it’s not the most important thing but I also like the look this year, kinda understated but still with a few pops of colour.”
