UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Vimana Scando here
What you’re looking at here is Vimana’s entire range of snowboard bindings. However, what it lacks in quantity, it comfortably makes up for in quality. The Vimana Scando binding is a mid-flexing model that covers all bases, and definitely won over our testers.
Things have been simplified a little in the 2017/18 model. The ladder of the ankle strap no longer passes under a section of X-shaped urethane, and the toe cap webbing is gone too. Both are now lighter as a result, and just as well-suited to any boot on the market.
“Vimana Scando can absorb impacts and vibrations with ease, which is just one of the reasons why Vimana’s stacked park team rate this so highly”
The highback is noticeably different too; instead of having various cutaways, it’s essentially one solid piece. There’s no noticeable weight gain, but the chances of breaking it are massively reduced. There’s also a larger area of boot-gripping material inside the highback as a result, so your position won’t shift as you ride.
Urethane is still in plentiful supply, meaning that the Vimana Scando can absorb impacts and vibrations with ease. That’ll be one of the reasons why Vimana’s stacked park team rate this so highly – but even if freestyle’s not your thing, you can appreciate how it cancels out day-to-day chatter.
You can pick the new Vimana Scando up either in black or white, and either would be a great fit with the excellent Vimana Continental Twin snowboard.
