Burton Scribe 2019-2020 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the Burton Scribe Snowboard Bindings for 2020/2021 by clicking here.

The Burton Scribes are for the ladies out there who prefer a more mellow ride. These beauties are softer than both the Lexas and the Escapades, making them an ideal choice for both the jib queens out there and the slightly less experienced ladies who are looking to improve their turns.

A softer flex makes for a more forgiving binding, so adding these to your set will give your riding plenty of freedom. Both the baseplates and the highbacks are constructed for all-mountain riding, which will give your riding a consistent feeling regardless of the terrain you choose to conquer next.

“Not to worry though, the short highback is supportive enough for the ones looking for a binding that is good for more than just jibbing”

The highback on the Burton Scribe is slightly shorter than your average highback, reinforcing the binding’s freestyle friendly image. Not to worry though, the short highback is supportive enough for riders looking for a binding that is good for more than just jibbing. Thanks to Burton’s tool-free tune system, you can easily increase the forward lean on the highkbacks, which will allow for a quicker edge to edge feel, making these beauties well suited for satisfying those carving cravings.

All the ladies looking for a versatile freestyle binding to compliment their snowboard set should definitely give the Burton Scribe a go. Bear in mind though, the bindings come both in EST (exclusively compatible with Burton’s Channel system) and Re:Flex (compatible with all the major mounting systems) versions, so be sure to pick the right one.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“If you like to get loose then you’ll definitely appreciate the soft nature of the Burton Scribes.

I rode these things together with a rather stiff board, and I found that the contrasting combination made for an enjoyable ride. Usually, I’d like to ride stiffer bindings together with a medium flex board but turning things around here was a fun change

“I wouldn’t necessarily say that these are made for the all-mountain chargers, as the highbacks don’t necessarily give you all the support you’d want when speeding up”

The scribes are super, super, super comfy on the feet. They give you that nice bit of freedom to your turns. Everything felt really effortless with these (I reckon they’re a good shout for jibbers).

One thing. I wouldn’t necessarily say that these are made for the all-mountain chargers, as the highbacks don’t necessarily give you all the support you’d want when speeding up. If that’s what you’re looking for, the Burton Escapades might be a good shout.

Nevertheless, I did really enjoy riding these. It felt like my feet were on holiday.”

Tester’s Verdict 2019/19

Joy Dutchsnowboard-asylum.com

“The Scribes were exactly what you’d expect for a mid-range women’s binding – they felt nice and secure at all times.

“Getting your straps done up on the fly has never been easier”

The slightly cut-out highback reduced their overall weight, and left them feeling nice and flexy. The milled-out strap meant getting in and out of them was a breeze – getting your straps done up on the fly has never been easier.

A nice do-it-all binding, with a big comfort benefit.”
