Burton Escapade 2019-2020 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the Burton Escapade Snowboard Bindings for 2020/2021 by clicking here.

As per usual with Burton bindings, the Burton Escapades come in two different models: The EST’s, exclusive for Burton’s own channel system and only compatible with Burton boards, and the Re:Flex version, compatible with all major mounting systems known to mankind. The only other difference between the EST and Re:Flex model being the baseplate cushioning.

Both versions of this magnifique masterpiece have a responsive yet playful baseplate which gives the binding a more consistent response and a better feel for whatever terrain you’ll choose to ride.

The EST version of the Burton Escapade features Burton’s Female exclusive PodBED cushioning system, which means that your foot will rest on individual sections of the EVA padding. These paddings are placed thoroughly throughout the binding on specific spots, so that they can reduce vibration and chatter in the most efficient way. The Re:Flex version on the other hand, is cushioned with an AutoCANT FullBED system, which automatically adjusts your boot into a natural position. This will both increase your control over the board and reduce fatigue.

These mid-flex Burton beauties are comfy, light-weight and shock-absorbent, ideal for any level of all-mountain riding.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“When I was first introduced to the Burton Escapade’s I remember being pretty confused about the baseplate – it’s like something you’ve never seen before in a pair of bindings. Once I got my head around the system though, it made total sense, and left me wondering why this system wasn’t used in other bindings.

“These ones also have a cushioning system to rest your feet on, which makes them really comfortable as they make the vibration feel less, well, vibraty?”

Despite the head-scratching first encounter, I really enjoyed riding the Escapades. Even though they are meant to be slightly less stiff than the Burton Lexas, I somehow felt them to be a bit stiffer. I don’t know if this had something to do with my legs being tired, my board, or just my judgment being a bit off the charts but, anyway, I reckon these things are more suited for slightly more experienced riders as they are that bit more aggressive.

These ones also have a cushioning system to rest your feet on, which makes them really comfortable as they make the vibration feel less, well,… vibraty?

If you’re keen to get yourself a good pair of all-mountain bindings that give your riding a bit more kick, the Burton Escapades are definitely a good shout.”
