- History lesson: Nitro was kick-started in Seattle in 1990, emerging kicking and screaming slap bang in the middle of the Grunge explosion that would make the city famous. While Kurt Cobain and co screamed their disapproval with the status quo up on stage, Nitro channeled the same spirit onto their boards. To this day the brand is known for its dark graphics – often featuring skulls – and its love of Iron Maiden’s favourite font.
