Word has reached us through the interwebs that Hemel will be making some changes to their freestyle night schedule after Christmas. According to this article on SCUK, the indoor slope have decided to shift their main freestyle night to the Thursday from 20th December until March.
This frees up the peak-time on Friday night for beginner lessons, which the powers that be reckon is essential during the winter months because of high demand. Or as they put it: “Due to high demand for lessons & lift passes during the peak holiday season we will be extending our weekend offering to include Fridays.”
Thursday nights – which had previously been more of a beginners’ freestyle session – will now feature more and better features, and the slope will stay open later. The park crew at Hemel will also be putting out some features on a Wednesday night, making that effectively the beginner freestyle session.
While the changes won’t suit everyone (there were some angry reactions when the news broke on the Hemel Freestyle Facebook page) the idea is that everything will be back to normal after the end of the season, and Hemel are apparently preparing to commit more cash and resources to freestyle in the future, including employing a full-time freestyle manager.
Here’s hoping that means a better freestyle offering in the long term!
