It feels like just about every snowboard to come out of KORUA has instant cult appeal and soon finds its place in snowboarding’s Hall of Fame. If it had to be narrowed down to one, though, surely the Tranny Finder takes the top spot. It’s their most versatile shape for time split between digging trenches and kicking up powder clouds. The Tranny Finder Plus takes that same shape, but upgrades every component to create one of the most bad ass snowboards in the game.

The Plus series moves away from the iconic red and white colourways and opts for a stealth-like black on black, cementing their image as the altogether more powerful, stronger and faster machines. It feels a bit like strapping into a puma, only this one’s on the hunt for freshies and corduroy.

Its versatility comes down to its outline. The diamond shape nose and tail reduce the overall running length but don’t compromise on that extra floaty surface area. The width underfoot not only helps in powder but allows for gravity-defying edge angles, as you can lean into near-horizontal positions without ever dragging out on the boots.

KORUA have managed to do this without compromising any edge to edge agility by utilising their unique carving sidecut, which follows a much tighter radius than conventional shapes. The directional shape and taper give you additional control at the end of the turns to crank up the pressure and springboard off the back of the tail.

Where the Classic series relied purely on their shaping to create the best riding experience, the Plus series beefs things up on all sides. The flex now jumps up to an eight, thanks to a carbon multi-axial webbing layup and a sturdier wood core, while the underside is upgraded to a nano high-speed sintered base.

Of course, it still has all the versatility of riding switch, launching sidehits and even racking up a few rotations in the air, but it does all these things with an altogether more aggressive approach. Saying that, if you’re constantly on the search for speed, power and precision, you may have just found your calling.
