The YES Ghost snowboard is very similar to the better-known YES Standard – in fact, the only real difference between the two is the profile. YES may call it ‘Modern Camber’, but it’s essentially the classic bend. If you prefer this to the hybrid version that has a bit of rocker at each end, then the Ghost should be your pick.
Shape-wise it’s technically a directional twin; the nose and tail are different, but it’s very subtle. There’s slightly more surface area at the nose of the board than the tail, so you get a big of help in powder with what is otherwise a true twin. Riders who will benefit most from this are those who like a true twin snowboard that’s not limited to the park.

While the YES Ghost is a standard width at the inserts, it narrows slightly between the feet to allow for quicker edge changes. That makes the waist easier to manipulate, but the triax fibreglass ensures you still get plenty of response through the turns, as well as stability at speed.
For 2018/19 the core has been upgraded, with lightweight paulownia added to the previous combination of bamboo stringers and poplar. YES reckons that it’s a 10% weight saving overall – it might not sound like much, but it has the potential to make a real difference.
For some riders, only camber will do, in which case the YES Ghost will deliver. Now available as a 162, more folk than ever can give it a shot.
