While it may not be as revered as its namesake the Burton Custom snowboard, the Burton Custom binding has a similarly long track record of delivering all-mountain performance that caters for just about everyone.

The version seen here is the EST model that is compatible only with ‘Channel’ boards (still just Burton and Endeavor use this at present). The Re:Flex version can work with any and all boards, though, so be sure to get the right one.

Both have a softer flex than most bindings in the B’s range, so it’s a good fit for those who prefer to cruise rather than charge. While it’s fairly sparse on the tech side of things, that just makes the Burton Custom a more straightforward binder, and one with an appealing price tag.

Both the baseplate and highback are made of lightweight polycarbonate throughout, giving you an even, predictable flex. Comfort is the focus of the ankle strap, while the toe strap provides unmatched grip thanks to the sturdy cap design.

The binding arms race continues at the expensive end of the market, but the Burton Custom shows that there’s definitely still a place for tried-and-tested design that’s as affordable as it is reliable.
