Burton Lexa 2017-2018 Women’s Snowboard Bindings Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Burton Lexa here

When we asked our female testers to highlight which bindings they particularly enjoyed, everyone’s list was different – but the Burton Lexa featured at or near the top of all of them. When choosing what was to make the cut for the Whitelines 100, this was perhaps the biggest no-brainer of the lot.

“The Lexa is impressively robust, which is why some of the world’s top pro riders put their faith in it”

The Burton Lexa women’s snowboard binding has been a fixture of the world’s slopes for several years. It’s a medium-flexing model that caters for all kinds of rider, with several convenient adjustment options that help you make it just right for your own needs. The price is pretty appealing too.

Should you wish to tweak the support a little, the Lexa is the only women’s binding in the line that gives you the option to swap the two ankle straps round. By doing so you change how they sit on your boots, so you can go for a more flexy feel one day, and increased support the next.

The Burton Lexa is also impressively robust, which is why some of the world’s top pro riders put their faith in it. Despite the bomb-proof construction it’s still impressively lightweight, with cored-out materials that get the balance just right. As for comfort, the highbacks are designed for a flawless fit with your calves, and the straps are snug without being overly plush.

“The Burton Lexa still looks great, and feels even greater”

As has been the norm for the last few years, the Burton Lexa is available in two versions; the EST edition works only with ‘Channel’ boards (more on those here), with unbeatable boardfeel and easy, precise stance adjustment without the need to un-strap. Meanwhile the Re:Flex version seen here can mount to any board (including Channel ones), and features a hinged disc that minimises the trade-off in natural board flex. Both feature plenty of cushioning, including a gel-based system that works wonders.

No animal print designs this year, but the Burton Lexa still looks great, and feels even greater. If you’re in the market for a new pair of binders, you can’t go wrong with such a stone-cold classic.

Tester’s Verdict

Charlotte Strachanhideout-hostel.com

“These are my go-to bindings year on year, and are just as excellent in 2017/18. For the girls that ride all over the mountain, Burton have absolutely nailed this binding.

“For the girls that ride all over the mountain, Burton have absolutely nailed this binding”

It is comfortable, lightweight, and has a flex that suits anyone – from the girl progressing from the beginner slopes to the advanced rider. I love them, and if given the chance wouldn’t ride anything else. The straps already fit really well, and everything’s so easy to adjust should you wish to do any fine-tuning.”
