The Details:

In his quest to build the ultimate powder boards, Jeremy Jones has taken a lot of influence from the pow-specific sticks he came across in Japan. This year he’s looked more towards the world of surfing, and teamed up with shaper Chris Christenson to create the Jones Storm Chaser.

This stubby, swallowtailed curio is a specialist backcountry weapon even by Jeremy’s standards, so anyone afraid of venturing off-piste would be wise to keep looking. If you do like the steep and deep, though, the shape of this makes it ideal for quick, reactive turns.

The profile is specific to this model, with a mellow rocker from the tail to just beyond the front inserts, exaggerated towards the nose for even more buoyancy. Even at slow speeds or on less steep pitches, you’ll struggle to sink this one.

It goes without saying that this isn’t designed for resort riding, but it’s stable enough and fast enough to carve up the piste while you’re waiting for the goods. The mellow Magne-Traction edges will grip and rip, and it’s wide enough for you to get as low as you dare in the carves.
