At the final mens halfpipe event of the season Peetu Piirionen was crowned as the 2012/2013 overall World Snowboard Tour Champion. This is his fourth overall title which was well deserved after a steady season with 7 top 10 results and 2 podium places.
Peetu often gets overlooked and doesn’t get the media attention that say Shaun White or Mark McMorris gets, but he goes the biggest by far in these competitions. Seeing as this is his fourth overall title just shows how long he has been on top of his game, this is especially incredible if you consider how far snowboarding has progressed in the past five years. This award really does prove that he is the best all round comp rider in the world at the moment.
Peetu beat his rival Ståle Sandbech who did not make it through to the finals of the Arctic Challenge. Peetu finished 5th overall. For full highlights of the Arctic Challenge go here.
