- History lesson: Founded by Tahoe resident Jay Quintin after his pro career came to a bone-crunching end, Smokin’ snowboards’ legal dealings were initially funded by the proceeds of Jay’s more illegal dealings – he’s known as ‘Smokin Jay’ for a reason! Luckily, by the time Jay got busted for growing and found himself relying solely on board building for his income, Smokin’ had grown into a big enough company to support him. Although no longer grass-funded, Smokin’ still remains very much a grass-roots effort, with Jay overseeing all aspects of production.
