YES. have retired their Globe NSB snowboard this season, but you’d be wrong to assume the Globe Traditionalist is a straight swap out. This is a completely new board with a new character and the style to boot. The boys behind YES. aren’t just pro snowboarders, but passionate skateboarders and surfers, too. They’ve set out to take aspects from all three sports and create an instant classic.

They haven’t gone sparingly on the tech either, using some of the most premium materials at their disposal to create a board that does it all. The Carbon PowerDrive 2.0 core (made from poplar paulownia and carbon stringers down the rails) provides all the snap, pop and responsiveness you’d expect from a top-end deck.

“It’s designed to be ridden by those who know what they are doing”

The directional volume twin outline means that it will ride almost identical in switch as it does in regular, because the contact surface area is that of a true twin, meaning there’s no taper in the Globe’s outline. Where is does offer up a little more pow-friendly volume is on the outline (but importantly, not the shovel length) of the nose. This means the tails sinks a little better, the nose floats a little and the Globes Traditionalist meets the all-mountain criteria a lot better. There’s also the Slambacks inserts which allow you to set your bindings much further back in the stance for days when powder’s not just an option on the menu but the full, three-course serving that day.

Naturally, a board of this spec comes fitted with a quality sintered base. There’s also pretty snappy flex coupled with a true camber profile. It’s not a board that isn’t designed to be forgiving or to massage your ego on the days when you’re not quite feeling it. It’s designed to be ridden by those who know what they are doing. For those looking for an all-mountain quiver killer but at a slightly mellower entrance point – both in terms of its flex and pricetag – have a look at the Standard.
