Snowboarding is meant to be fun, right? That’s why we all do it. One thing that can really make a day on the hill suck is equipment that doesn’t fit you properly. Your kid shouldn’t have to ride an oversized adults board because their skills have outgrown the junior fleet. The YES crew has created a duo of kids boards that they’d be happy for their own sprogs to ride. The FunInc. is their playful all-mountain option, ideal for getting to grips with freestyle, locking down carves and dipping their toes into the world of off piste riding.

A flat profile extends along the board to the contact points, creating a ridiculously long and stable effective edge. Having the board constantly in contact with the snow evens out the pressure down the edge and keeps it feeling predictable.

Early rise rocker comes into play just outside the contact points in the nose and tail, giving a bit of extra float in powder, easing up turn initiations and making the ride slightly more catch free. The combination of flat with rocker gives some nice all terrain versatility and a gentle learning curve.

The FunInc. is a solid introductory park board thanks to its soft flex and twin shape. The biax glass and poplar core keep it nice and playful and the extruded base is easily repairable if it takes a beating on rails or boxes. Blunted nose and tail shapes reduce the total length and weight of the board, without sacrificing any edge control or on snow feel.

Coming in four sizes to take your grom from their first day on bunny hill to their very first black diamond. Spinning, slashing and spraying are all on the cards with the FunInc. and of course, fun by the bagload.

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

Whitelines Grom Team

Ella

“I really liked this board; it was stiffer than my normal board, but it turned really well, I could carve really hard and it felt strong and safe when I was going straight. I used it in slush and it would just bash straight through the lumps and bumps.”

Dad’s Comments

“I was a little concerned that this board would be too long and heavy for the kids, but YES seem to have struck a really good balance with the flex pattern on the kids boards because both the FunInc and the PowInc have worked really well. Ella drives through turns, and this really complimented her style.”
