The Details:
Chilean pow-chaser extraordinaire Manuel Diaz has been tearing up steep faces the world over, and now he’s been given his own pro model by Gigi Rüf’s Slash brand. The Slash Nahual is new for 2015/16, and takes its name from the shapeshifting animal men of Central American legend.
It’s the only freeride-focused board in Slash’s range to feature a predominantly flat base – indeed, that’s quite unusual for any backcountry-focused board. However, there’s an early rise at the nose that will help to keep the Nahual afloat.
You’ll still be able to ride it switch, but it’s definitely going to perform better in your normal stance – the fact that Slash’s famous ‘kickstand’ cutaway is only present in the tail (rather than at both ends, as normal) is further proof that this is built to charge.
And charge it will – the base, Slash claim, is the fastest you can find anywhere – but it’s no one-trick pony. It’s just light and soft enough to have lots of fun with at slower speeds and off side hits as well.
It comes with a wide waist as standard giving you even better float, and making it ideal for those with larger feet.
