UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Salomon Gypsy here
The Details:
A longtime favourite of both Jenny Jones and Desiree Melancon, the Salomon Gypsy is always popular with freestyle-forward females. Even though it’s a relatively conventional true twin, it’s always been one that you can spot a mile off – sure enough, the graphics for 2015/16 are as eye-catching as ever.
It’s a little on the soft side, so anyone wanting to hit Jenny-sized kickers had better have their wits about them.
That being said, the profile (mostly camber with a flat section in the middle) will make it easier to hold your line at the high speeds – which you’ll have no trouble getting up to thanks to Salomon’s famously rapid sintered base.
New for this year is the addition of carbon to the build, which makes it more responsive whilst keeping it light. If you’re setting up for a rail or putting down the landing gear on the kicker line, the Gypsy is both responsive and forgiving. It’ll handle any kind of riding, but it’s in the park – and the streets – that it’ll really soar.
