You might remember the Roxy Banana Smoothie, a staple of the all-female brand’s line for many years. The name has since been de-fruited, but that’s not the only thing that makes the Roxy Smoothie women’s snowboard a different beast.
Previously a true twin, the Roxy Smoothie has taken on a new shape altogether, one that’s better suited to freeriding. It’s no gun, but the wider nose will give you better performance in the deep stuff. Robin Van Gyn uses this one – nuff said.

The profile helps in this respect, too; a pronounced rocker bend between the feet makes this so easy to keep afloat. If you’ve ever been put off rocker boards for how ‘loose’ they can feel on firmer terrain, then you’ll be please to hear that this also has mellow camber sections under the feet.
Magne-traction was removed a few years ago, but the wavy edge has returned to the Smoothie for 2018/19. By making contact with the snow at multiple points throughout the turn, this provides extra grip on firmer terrain. What the combo profile loses in edge hold, it recoups with Magne-traction.
Made at the Mervin factory in Washington State (also home to Lib Tech and Gnu), the Roxy Smoothie has plenty of eco cred too – case in point, the chatter-dampening natural fibres that give your feet an easier ride. There’s no compromise in quality, though, so you get the best of both worlds.
