Nitro Addict 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Hooked on a feeling

The Details:

If you’re looking for an all-mountain stick at a low price, the Nitro Addict fits the bill. Sure, you can’t expect all the bells and whistles that you’d find on a high-end board, but there’s more than enough going on here to keep you happy on any terrain.

Profile-wise it features a traditional camber bend interrupted in the middle by a flat section. You don’t get quite the same edge hold as you would with the classic version, and it isn’t as good for carves, but it’s less twitchy and so better suited to less aggressive riding.

The directional shape allows for a good deal of stability when cruising – and it’s not so prominent that you can’t ride switch – but the extruded base isn’t the fastest.

As you may have guessed by now, this isn’t a precision tool. However, don’t equate that with how much fun you’re likely to have. This is capable of riding every inch of the resort, and the base doesn’t need too much love.

Thanks to being slightly wider in the waist than standard Nitros, this will suit those with larger feet who at the same time want to avoid the edge-to-edge sluggishness that you sometimes get with true wide boards.

Whether you’re new to snowboarding or just after something affordable that keeps your options open, you may get hooked on the Nitro Addict.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Matt Higsonsnowboard-asylum.com

“A relatively simple snowboard, this isn’t overly difficult or challenging to ride as it’s quite flexible, so will lend itself to someone new to riding or someone wanting an easier-going board.

I rode this in some really chopped-up conditions and it pretty much ploughed through everything with ease. Its not too much of a freestyle board but it certainly held up well when taken over the jumps in the park, and it’d work great for someone who wants to dabble in a bit of everything.“
