Here’s a phrase you’ll come across a lot in the world of brand catalogue spiel, but not one we use lightly; the Jones Women’s Flagship really has to be ridden to be believed. Since it first appeared nearly a decade ago, it’s helped countless riders increase their confidence and move up through the gears.

Who Is The Jones Women’s Flagship For?

While this is a freeride board through and through, we wouldn’t say it’s only for the gnar. Nor does it lean enough into the ‘all-mountain’ category to please occasional park riders. That might seem like it rules a lot of people out, but actually it’s the opposite. Snowboarding’s silent majority wants something that’ll razz around the mountain without issue, and that’s exactly what this delivers.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

Despite its reputation as a precision tool, the Jones Women’s Flagship doesn’t have the kind of true camber profile that you might be expecting. There are rocker sections at each end, with camber in between the feet. Buttering isn’t exactly on the cards, but turns feel smooth and the nose can’t help but float in the pow (especially when you factor in the slightly tapered shape and 3D-contoured base). In addition to the bite you get from the camber, the ‘Traction Tech’ wavy edges ensure you can hold your line even at Mach 10.

“ If you’ve ever felt shaken up in chopped-up crud, you weren’t on a Flagship”

Construction and Materials

Here’s where the Jones Women’s Flagship really stands out; the dampening – delivered chiefly by the wood veneer topsheet – is insane. If you’ve ever felt shaken up in chopped-up crud, you weren’t on a Flagship. The hard bamboo core additives and triax fibreglass keep this thing set to its task, giving you licence to push the boat out a bit further (which, thanks to the quality of the sintered base, is not hard to do).

The resulting creation isn’t exactly light, but neither is it what you would call heavy. Instead it pulls off the neat trick of feeling just substantial enough to smash through whatever comes across your path.

“Still looking the business after all these years, the Jones Women’s Flagship is a properly iconic snowboard”

Roundup

Still looking the business after all these years, the Jones Women’s Flagship is a properly iconic snowboard. It’s not for everyone, but then what is? Maybe it’s time to reassess your priorities, ditch the supposed ‘all-mountain’ options that often have all the stability of a Love Island couple, and take this one out for a gallop.
