UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2019/2020 Jones Mountain Twin here

Even as Jeremy Jones continues to push the boat out with regards to snowboard design, the Jones Mountain Twin remains the most popular model in his brand’s ever-expanding range. It’s not hard to explain, though; here you have all of his team’s expertise bundled into a versatile all-mountain shape.

Having said that, if you’re into spending a lot of time in the park, but want something that can do pow and piste on occasion, then this isn’t the one for you. Flip it round, though, and you’ve got a fantastic all-terrain vehicle that’s still good to have when you get an itch for freestyle.

“The true twin flex ensures that you can fire off features just as well in your switch stance”

The directional twin shape and slightly setback stance means that this is very stable, even when you’re really gunning it on that sintered base. The triax fibreglass and longitudinal stiffness help in that respect, too, but neither are as maxed out as Jones’ specialist freeride chargers.

The rocker sections at each end give the Jones Mountain Twin a hand when you want to hold a butter, and the true twin flex ensures that you can fire off features just as well in your switch stance.

Also available is the souped-up Jones Ultra Mountain Twin (which carried Sammy Luebke to Freeride World Tour victory), and there’s now a splitboard version too.

Tester’s Verdict

Darren Williamsthesnowboardshop.co.uk/

“The freestyle board with a freeride heart, the Jones Mountain Twin is consistently in our top five best selling snowboards. It’s a pretty stiff directional twin model that can be used anywhere over the whole mountain.

“The freestyle board with a freeride heart”

Camber underfoot with a ‘Traction-tech’ edges (think Magna-traction, but less catchy) let you carve hard without the fear of washing out. Rocker in the nose and tail lets you press and butter about the piste/park while simultaneously giving plenty of float in the powder.

It also has a fast sintered base, and and a classic Jones look.”
