The Dream Catcher is a high spec piste and powder cruiser, aimed squarely at riders looking to up their game and charge the whole mountain no matter the conditions. When you want a board that’s as badass as you are, the Dream Catcher will have your back.

The Dream Catcher excels when you find yourself with fresh powder, the long rockered nose skims across the top of the snowpack and you’ll find yourself floating with ease. Jones have added 2mm bevel to the tip and tail, to help with the deeper snow (this spoon-like surface is primo for avoiding sink and also helps you to roll through turns).

“The traction bumps down the edges help the board stay grippy when the conditions start to get a bit sketchy”

The directional shape gives you that little bit extra charge power when you’re cruising on groomers, but it’s not so hectic that you’ll find yourself caught wildly short when you’re trying to land switch off that pillow.

While definitely not a freestyle focused board, the slightly softer flex pattern means you can still be playful when you want to be. Presses and butters are definitely on the cards when you get this little beauty on the piste, and don’t be afraid to get playful on the sidehits.

The traction bumps down the edges help the board stay grippy when the conditions start to get a bit sketchy. The increased surface area grips like a serrated knife and you’ll get to ride faster and feel more confident. The super-fast sintered base holds wax like a dream and will keep you sliding long after the snow gets slushy.

Tester’s Verdict

“I really enjoyed the versatility of the Dream Catcher and had a lot of fun riding it despite normally favouring true twin boards. I think it’s because it doesn’t feel especially directional whilst you’re riding it on piste, but when you head off into the deeper snow you really reap the benefits.

“It’s so easy to keep floating and you’re left with a really surfy feel”

Taking this through powder stashes is amazing, it’s so easy to keep floating and you’re left with a really surfy feel. It’s lightweight and nimble, which leaves you able to dart in and out to your hearts content.

When riding groomers it feels very locked in through the entirety of the turn, and even first thing in the morning when it was pretty icy it still managed to bite well. I like that this isn’t a crazy stiff charging board, and is still soft enough to play around on. It feels stable at speed, but not like you’re riding a plank of wood.

It felt very consistent and comfortable in any and all conditions. Perfect for a rider who’s looking to progress all over the mountain.”

Tester’s Verdict 2018/19

“The Dream Catcher is quickly becoming one of my favourite go-to boards for any situation. Its lightning fast base keeps you speeding along no matter the condition of the snow.

It’s the perfect board for powder days, and kept me floating effortlessly. Unlike some boards that perform well in the deep it feels very controllable on piste too, so there’s no need to worry about hopping on and off the side.

“It felt so stable and ‘locked in’ the whole time, even when it had early morning ice to contend with”

Carving was delightful and it felt so stable and ‘locked in’ the whole time, even when it had early morning ice to contend with. A lap through the park was super fun too. My only issue was it felt a teensy bit heavy, but in its defence it was a longer board than I would usually choose to ride.

I’d recommend the Dream Catcher for a rider who loves to rip and grip on piste, hunts out powder relentlessly, and wants a board that can keep up with them anywhere and anytime.”

“I found this board a bit boring on the piste as I always found myself to be the last one of the crew to reach the lifts, which made me feel slightly frustrated as I like to ride fast. But, as soon as we hit the powder, this board was amazing!

“As soon as we hit the powder, this board was amazing!”

I had one of the best powder runs of the season when riding this board. It worked especially well when riding in the forest, and making turns in between narrow tree lines felt easy and effortless. The lightness of the board works really well in powder, and makes riding very enjoyable and floaty – exactly what you aim for when riding fresh pow.

As a powder board I really enjoyed riding this, but on the piste the lightness of the board made it not quite aggressive enough for my taste.

The Jones Dream Catcher is a great all-mountain board, easy to ride everywhere and perfect for powder days. It’s also very progression-friendly.”
