The Details:
Jess is one of our favourite riders, so we’re pleased to see how well-received her signature stick has been over the last few years. This year’s version looks likely to further cement the CAPiTA Jess Kimura Pro’s reputation as one of the best women’s freestyle boards around.
Profile-wise, Jess favours the ‘Freeride FK’ specs that you also find on the Defenders Of Awesome. Mostly camber but with flat sections at the contact points, it grips the mountain and holds a strong edge, offering plenty of pop when you need it.
The sintered base will get you up to high speeds pronto, but the flat sections will reduce twitchiness when you’re really maching it. It’s also got an exclusive core that features maple wood – Jess is Canadian, so that makes sense – and is built to last, with extra-strong sections under the inserts and at the edges.
Elsewhere there are two carbon beams that run almost the full length of the board to give it added response and pop without weighing it down.
We try not to dwell on the graphics, as a pretty picture does not a good deck make, but we had to make an exception to salute the epic topsheet on Jess’ board – designed by the legendary Peter Line.
