Why we chose Capita The Equalizer Snowboard: Badass board – through and through.

“This board is for the girl who wants to ride everything and ride it well. The girl who doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed into being one type of rider. This is for the new breed; the ones who see themselves full of empowerment and possibilities. This is for the next generation – The Equalizers.” – Jess Kimura.

“The Capita Equalizer is nothing less than the lady riding it, whether she is Jess Kimura or you”

Jess Kimura, is a boss. Nuff’ said. She’s someone who kicks down doors instead of walking through them. Refusing to be defined as only one sort of a rider, she inspires every girl out there to follow her lead (so many doors kicked off their hinges). Anyway, all of this brings us back round to  the Capita Equalizer; a board that’s nothing less than the lady riding it – whether that lady is  Jess Kimura or you.

A year ago, the Jess Kimura Pro snowboard model took a different approach to snowboarding than it had before. The street compatible board turned into something more versatile that could tackle the backcountry equally well as a street rail.

With a mid-body camber, flat tail and reverse cambered nose the Equalizer allows for both pop and stability. The nose extends further on while the tail becomes blunt, which makes for a perfect powdery float. And not to startle the jibbers out there, riding switch on this beauty is still an absolute doddle.

New for this season is the dual blaster ashpop core, which means that the already durable board now has an even more dense and powerful core for increased board control. You’ll feel stable on the piste, in the air, and when returning back to the snowy surface of earth. Capita’s also added interwoven and sustainable flax fibres to the Equalizer (kudos for sustainability Capita), making the board more shock absorbent while increasing its power and response.

Everything about this board is as badass as the lady who designed it. In order to enjoy its power to the fullest, you really need to bring out the no Fs given version of you. If you’re not ready to unleash your most confident self on the hill, you won’t be able to appreciate everything this board can offer. The Equalizer is an all mountain charger with next level written all over it.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“This. Board. Is. Rad. Honestly, I felt like a badass riding it which if you knew me you’d know that I definitely am not. I don’t know if I was simply having a great day, or if it was the board that brought out the confidence in me but I literally felt like I could do anything and everything while I was on it.

“This. Board. Is. Rad.”

It was snowing quite heavily while I was riding the Equalizer, so I got to try it in both powder and on the piste. It worked brilliantly for both. The board isn’t too stiff but neither is it too soft. It’s ideal for charging and it also holds an edge, so carving comes quite naturally (whether you aim for it or not). Any odd jump I managed to pop with this board also felt stable, both while in the air and when landing. The stability and pop of The Equalizer made me feel super secure, and also made me more committed to whatever I wanted to try while riding it. This is a great all mountain board, one that doesn’t feel like it’s been specifically designed for any one type of riding (it’s good for everything).

Not sure if my stoke for this board has grown over time, as things tend to do, but everything about this board felt just right. Santa, if you’re reading this, I’d very much love to have the Capita Equalizer under my tree come Christmas time. Please. Thanks. Cheers. Bye.”

Trade Secrets

Jess Kimura – Team Rider, Capita

“When I first started riding for CAPiTA, they only had a couple of options for girls boards and I would sometimes have to ride the smaller men’s boards to fill in the gaps. Today, I’m proud to say that some of the best boards we make are in our women’s line, and I’d never consider having to ride anything from “the other side”.

This newly designed model is a big part of that progression – it’s a board for the girl who wants to ride everything, and ride it well. The girl who doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed into being ONE type of rider. This is for the new breed; the ones who see themselves full of empowerment and possibilities. This is for the next generation — The Equalizers.”
