It’s the kid’s addition to the Burton Family Tree Line – The Role Model. We’re stoked that Burton’s put so much effort into producing a proper freeride board for the up and coming generation. After all, these are the ones who’ll be pushing the sport even further, making it only fair that they’ll have the proper gear to do that with.
If you’ve already looked at our favourite snowboards for 2019/20 you’ll know we’re huge fans of Burton’s Family Tree Line. The Role Model follows in the footsteps of its superiors. This thing is made for powder.

The directional camber and 15mm taper make this a real trooper when it comes to riding powder. You’ve got rocker in the nose, which keeps you floating with aplomb and riding on the centre of the board. Add the taper to the mix, which further increases the volume in the nose keeps the board planing on top of the snow, you’ll float your way to any port.
If the thought of buying a powder-specific board for your growing kid makes you lose sleep/sweat over the state of your bank balance, the Role Model is also a solid choice for all-mountain riding. The setback camber gives the board ample power between the feet (where you need it most), so your kid will have a blast charging down the groomers too. Practicing your switch on this isn’t any bother either, thanks to an even flex pattern from tip to tail.
This is not necessarily the board you’d want to get your kid if they’re just beginning to practice their turns. However, if they’ve got the backcountry bug, or you, as a parent, simply want them to have as much fun as you do slashing through deep snow, the Burton Role Model is a worthy purchase that will keep the whole family happy.
