UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Bataleon Push Up here

The name of the Bataleon Push Up isn’t just a chance to work in a boob pun – it also alludes to this board’s potential to progress your riding to the next level, regardless of where and how you like to ride.

That being said, it’s not the most techy board in Bataleon’s range, so those with an intermediate skill set (not to mention a limited budget) should be looking at this. The core is mostly poplar, but bamboo sections at the edges make it lighter and stronger than entry-level fodder.

The Bataleon Push Up also features four stringers made from basalt (a kind of volcanic rock) running from the inserts to the contact points. These firm up the nose and tail a little, and channel energy to the edges, but the waist of the board remains unencumbered and easy to manipulate with your feet.

Bataleon’s Triple Base Technology is well suited to an all-mountain model such as this. The ‘Freestyle’ calibration seen here has a medium-sized centrebase, with enough edge uplift at the nose and tail to make both powder riding and basic freestyle (presses, butters) a breeze.

The base is easy to maintain should you ever come a cropper, and quick enough for all but the most hell-bent speed freak. In short, the Bataleon Push Up has everything the discerning all-rounder needs.

Tester’s Verdict

Joy Dutchsnowboard-asylum.com

“Bataleon once again coming through with an all-mountain destroyer; the Push Up was a bag of fun.

“Surprisingly nimble and manoeuvrable when you want to push it for quick turns, the Push Up handled every type of terrain with ease”

In the powder it had such a loose, surfy feel to it, and was absolutely effortless to ride, but then when you got it onto the piste, it was powerful and aggressive. Surprisingly nimble and manoeuvrable when you want to push it for quick turns, the Push Up handled every type of terrain with ease.

Despite being a bit stiffer, it didn’t let down when just messing around and cruising side hits. Fast and hard when you want it, fun and mellow when you need it, The Push Up does it all.”
